A monkeypox case has occurred in a daycare center in Bern. However, the day care center remains open.
The daycare remains open despite a case of monkeypox.
A case of monkeypox has occurred in the staff of a day-care center (Kita) in the canton of Bern. Because the risk of infection is estimated to be extremely low, the children can continue to attend the day care center.
The canton of Bern discussed the situation with the Federal Office of Public Health, as announced by the Bernese health department on Tuesday evening.
There were eight children and two adults in the daycare group affected. The parents of the eight children were informed by the daycare management and are being called by the cantonal medical service of the canton of Bern to clarify medical and other questions.
The first case of monkeypox appeared in Switzerland in mid-May. According to the Federal Office of Public Health, 416 cases have been laboratory-confirmed since then. (SDA)
