Hassan Shehata, Minister of Manpower, said that he had received a report from the head of the Workers’ Representative Office in the State of Kuwait, Ahmed Ibrahim, in which he explained that the decision issued by the Ministry of State for Municipal Affairs in Kuwait had preceded the issuance of the same decision in 2017 and 2020 regarding the “Kuwaitization” of many jobs in some government agencies.
He pointed out that what was circulated on social media regarding the deportation of a number of Egyptian workers was not related to reality, and that this decision would affect only workers coming to work at the Ministry of State for Municipal Affairs and its affiliated departments.
He pointed out that the official data contained in the report stated that the number of Egyptian workers in the government sector in the State of Kuwait does not exceed 31,000 Egyptian workers, and that those working in the Ministry of State for Municipal Affairs and its departments do not exceed a thousand, and not all of them will be negatively affected, but only those who work in the administrative jobs that It will be “stocked” in accordance with the decision.
