The incident took place yesterday in Larnaca. According to the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation on August 23, it was instructed to initiate a criminal case on the fact of the attack.

“The Russian Investigative Committee, in cooperation with the Russian Foreign Ministry, will take measures to establish all the circumstances of the incident and the identity of the woman involved in the attack, for her subsequent prosecution,” the text says.

On the evening of August 22, a group of people gathered with Russian flags near the church of Panagia Faneromeni. According to preliminary data, a woman with a knife attacked them, they managed to take it away with the help of the police.

Larnaca Provincial Police spokesman Haris Hadjiyasemi said that the attacker, 55, should be charged with assault, carrying knives outside her home, drunkenness, disturbing the peace and carrying weapons for the purpose of intimidation.
