An hour and a half. On Wednesday August 18, a young Toulouse of 20 years landmark on Le Bon Coin l’iPhone 13 of his dreams: a new device at 900 euros. Whose owner is also very responsive, since he offers to close the deal the same day and gives him an appointment at 5 p.m. at the subway Argoulets.
At the appointed time, a young man comes to her with the famous iPhone in its original box still under blister. He even has on him the invoice from a household appliance brand indicating that he bought the device for 1,400 euros. The buyer insists on seeing the phone. He replies that it will no longer be new if he opens the packaging. She decides to trust him and gives him the money. Bad intuition and big disappointment when opening the box: the phone is only the size of an iPhone, it’s even, purists’ nightmare, an Android. And obviously the seller no longer responds online.
She plays fake buyers
But the victim decides to set a trap for him. She creates a new profile on the site and goes in search of a new iPhone 13 at a bargain price. Bingo, she finds the same offer. And acquires the certainty of dealing with the same scammer when the seller gives him an appointment this Monday… At 5 p.m. at the Argoulets metro station. She asks her mother to play the customer and warns the police regarding the transaction.
The young man, unknown to the police so far, was arrested in the act with a new well-wrapped pseudo-iPhone. He is still in police custody on Tuesday and the investigators are looking in particular to find out where he obtained the false invoices.
