Ukrainian Ministry of National Defense Secured S400 information from Russian tourists’ SNS photos

“Thank you for the photo…do good things in the future”

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry claims that Russian tourists have obtained valuable military information from vacation photos posted on social media.

On the 22nd (local time), the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine posted a picture of a man in a swimsuit as a Russian tourist who came to Crimea on its official Twitter account.

Behind the sunburned man, at least two Russian medium- and long-range surface-to-air missile systems, the S-400, are visible.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense said of the photo, “Russian tourists, like this man who posted a photo of the Russian air defense system near Yevpatoria, Crimea, are of great help to us from time to time.”

Please do a lot of good things in the future.”

Some Twitter users used other Twitter posts of the man in the photo and the location information of the photo to specify the latitude and longitude where the photo was taken and shared it once more on social media.

The British daily The Telegraph reported that these photos were posted while Ukraine was intensifying its attack on Crimea and was seeking information on Russian military equipment in Crimea.

On the 31st of last month, Ukrainian forces struck the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol, Crimea, with a drone, killing five people.

On the 19th of this month, the headquarters of the Russian fleet was also attacked by drones.

The Telegraph reported that as military tensions escalated in Crimea, thousands of vacationers returned to mainland Russia without being able to fully enjoy their vacations.

A local travel agency said the number of tourists to Crimea had decreased compared to last year.

The Russian military is responding to a Ukrainian attack by strengthening its missile defense system in Crimea.

Russia forcibly annexed Crimea from Ukraine in 2014.

The S-400 can intercept low-altitude cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and military aircraft.

The Ukrainian Air Force is said to have suffered considerable difficulties in conducting wide-ranging operations in Ukrainian airspace because of the S-400.
