Juan Medina removed from office as inspector general of the Public Ministry

Deputy Attorney General Juan Medina de los Santos was removed from the position of Inspector General of the Public Ministry and suspended from his work.

This was reported by a source of full credit to Listín Diario, who did not reveal who was appointed in his place.

The designation of Medina de los Santos It was approved by the Superior Council of the Public Ministry through a resolution approved in its twenty-second session, on October 9, 2020.

With the appointment, the Superior Council of the Public Ministry placed in the hands of Medina de los Santos an important function that strengthens the control bodies of the Attorney General’s Office and the entire investigative body.

According to the Organic Law of the Public Ministry (133-11), the inspector general is responsible for investigating, ex officio or by complaint, the faults attributed to members of the Public Ministry and presenting the accusations when appropriate.

The incumbent must be appointed from among the deputy attorneys of the person who heads the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic and will remain in office for two years, although his mandate may be renewed for a second consecutive term.
