The Saint-Ambroise song festival crowned the three winners of its 31st edition on August 13. Among these, the young singer from Sainte-Catherine Anissa Essahili once once more stood out.

“I’ve been singing since I was five years old. However, the song is not part of my family heritage, ”reveals the teenager to the Journal. My parents liked the timbre of my voice and decided to register me for certain competitions.

After a week of workshops and various training sessions with industry players, Anissa Essalihi shone in the grand finale and won the public prize, as well as first place in the 13-17 year old category. This is an additional recognition for the one who has already triumphed in several other festivals, notably the Petit Festival de la chanson de Granby.

“I want first of all to excel at school and then, if song opens the door for me, to continue on this path”, continues the young Saint Catherine wisely.

The prize obtained at Saint-Ambroise was accompanied by a grant to record an EP, the first of his career. She also won the bursary from the Quebec Ministry of Tourism and the Desjardins bursary. These recognitions will allow him to continue to showcase his talent throughout Quebec.
