Brazilian international midfielder Casemiro, who recently moved from Real Madrid to Manchester United, confirmed that he did not move to the English team for money, but indicated that he would one day return to the royal team.
Casemiro’s words came during a farewell party for his former club, Real Madrid, at the Santiago Bernabeu, on Monday.
“When I left Sao Paulo, it was clear to me that I would play for Real Madrid’s first team,” he said, teary-eyed.
“Here I built my life, founded my family, and I am confident that one day I will return to repay the great love that this club has given me.”
“The best thing I’ve achieved is coming to training every day at this club. As you know, I don’t like the lights, but I always try to speak from the heart,” the midfielder added.
Casemiro, 30, revealed that he did not move to the Red Devils for money following a deal estimated at seventy million euros: “Whoever thinks that I went for money does not know me. I think they are few and they do not know me. Not for money. They are wrong.”
On the goal of moving to Manchester United, he said, “I am looking forward to developing my level at a big club like Manchester United.”
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez praised him during the event, describing him as “one of the most important players in our team during the last decade”.
Casemiro has a lot of experience following winning the Champions League 5 times and the Spanish League 3 times, in addition to being one of the pillars of the Brazil national team over the past years.
