A1 and Drei have announced a new partnership in fiber optic internet. In future, Drei will also offer fiber optic connections in the A1 network in addition to its existing mobile and fixed-line Internet services.
Come with the strategic partnership A1 and Three increasingly diverse demands of Internet users and the increasing demand for high-speed connections. Customers who opt for fiber optic Internet can thus freely decide in the areas expanded by A1 which products and offers are right for them and with which contractual partner they want to work.
Infrastructure cooperations of this kind are currently becoming increasingly important in the Austrian telecommunications sector. In addition to Austria-wide partnerships such as the one with Drei, A1 also concludes further cooperations with regional providers in order to use the A1 fiber optic network in the best possible way. Drei strives to further expand its fixed network and fiber optic network through cooperation with other infrastructure operators. With a length of more than 67,000 kilometers, the A1 fiber optic network is the largest broadband network in Austria. Drei operates its own Austria-wide fiber optic ring with a total length of 12,400 kilometers.
Broadband for homes and businesses
“The declared goal of A1 is to provide everyone living in Austria with easy and fast access to the Internet and the digital services of tomorrow. A1 is therefore investing more than 500 million euros in the expansion of the digital infrastructure this year. To ensure that this is optimally used, A1 relies on partnerships with service providers – in individual regions and throughout Austria,” says A1 CEO Marcus Grausam.
