An informed source in the Egyptian community in Kuwait revealed the first categories included in the decision of the “Kuwait” plan, empowering national cadres in the Kuwait Municipality, and dispensing with expatriates in all public jobs in the Kuwait Municipality.
The source confirmed to Masrawy that the Minister of Kuwait Municipality has developed a 3-phase time plan for Kuwaitization of jobs in the municipality and the termination of contracts for non-Kuwaiti employees of the Kuwait Municipality within a week: the first phase, with no less than 33%, and the warning period starts from next September 1, and the second phase, including no less than 33%. Less than 33%, starting from February 1, 2023, and the third phase, which is the remaining number of non-Kuwaiti employees, starting on July 1, 2023.
He added that the Kuwait Municipality, immediately following directing the Kuwaiti minister, began implementing the “Kuwaitization” plan by inspecting the institutions affiliated with its ministry and employing expatriates, in order to determine the employees who will be laid off, saying: The Kuwait Municipality will inspect its expatriate employees.
The source stressed that this procedure includes all nationalities coming to Kuwait, including Egyptians, and the impact on Egyptian workers in Kuwait will be great, as their number reaches one million Egyptians.
The source explained that the first categories that will be dispensed with include administrative jobs and include the names of Egyptians, in the context of changing workers there and injecting new blood into these jobs, stressing that the Kuwaiti government, despite the “Kuwaitization” plan, will not dispense with ordinary workers and architecture professions at all, as they do not Indispensable in Kuwait.
The source pointed out that Egyptians work in all well-known professions, including municipal workers, administrative staff, chartered accountants, consultants, workers, technicians, architecture professions and other professions.
The Minister of Municipality and Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology Affairs in Kuwait, Rana Al-Faris, sent a letter to the Director General of Kuwait Town, Eng. Ahmed Al-Manfouhi, which includes a plan to “Kuwait” and empower national cadres in the Kuwait Municipality.
Al-Fares issued a directive to work with a plan to replace and empower the national elements, for all public jobs in the Kuwait Municipality, according to a specific timetable, in line with the needs of the municipality, including directing the preparation of a comprehensive training plan that achieves the desired goal of Kuwaitization of workers in the sectors of Kuwait Municipality, and the replacement of capable national cadres. To promote the work of the Kuwait Municipality and improve its performance in general, given that public jobs are a national service to achieve the public interest, in accordance with the text of Article (26) of the Constitution.
