Fall on the mountain: Van der Bellen for observation in the hospital

The Federal President slipped during a mountain hike in Tyrol and was slightly injured.

Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen suffered minor injuries in a mountain accident on Sunday followingnoon. He slipped on a mountain hike on the Kaunergrat and was taken to the nearest hospital by Cobra companions. The Federal President announced this on Sunday evening on his official Twitter account.

Van der Bellen suffered abrasions and a minor concussion and will routinely spend the night in hospital on the advice of treating doctors. His appointments within the European Forum Alpbach he canceled on Monday and Tuesday, the opening words will now be Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) speak.

The head of state quickly received numerous get well wishes from the political scene on Twitter, including from direct competitor Tassilo Wallentin. The former “Krone” columnist wants – if he gets the necessary declarations of support – to run for the office of Federal President.
