This is a new step on the way to the arrival of Activision Blizzard in the hands of Microsoft. Announced earlier this year, the takeover seems indeed to be going well with the announcement of this Sunday. This one comes to us from a simple tweet from the GAC (General Authority of Competition) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The General Competition Authority of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia declares that it does not oppose the completion of the process of economic concentration between:
– Microsoft Corporation
– Activision Blizzard, Inc.
For now, Microsoft seems to be sticking to its extended schedule of almost a year and a half. In April, the shareholders of Activision Blizzard indeed validated the projectwhich is expected to be completed by the end of the first half of 2023.
However, some pitfalls can still bother Phil Spencer’s projects. Other competition authorities have yet to decide on the takeover, a procedure that can take several months. The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) still studying the project. The European Union, United Kingdom, Brazil and other countries must also transmit their decisions.
At the same time, the human question comes up regularly. Activision Blizzard was the subject, a few months ago, of accusations targeting even its leaders. The shareholders have also demanded that an annual report be published on possible situations of harassment. The subject is particularly watched following the news of recent years around the studio.
However, the buyer still insured a few months ago to be confident. Certainly, this new step will reassure Microsoft in this position, pending other similar announcements.
