A young Swiss man has been fined 450 euros in Rome for trying to enter the historic fountain in Campo de’ Fiori square.
The 25-year-old man is also being given a perimeter ban, Italian news agency Adnkronos said on Sunday, citing local police.
The Swiss was intercepted during the weekend by a police patrol responsible for ensuring decorum and respect for historic areas in the Eternal City. More than 400 offenses were recorded, mostly non-compliance with the highway code as well as the sale and consumption of alcohol and drugs.
