A Toronto police superintendent responsible for the entire traffic safety division was suspended last week following an ‘incident’ which allegedly took place in Quebec City during the annual conference of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (ACCP).

Superintendent Scott Baptist is being investigated for sexual misconduct in connection with his dealings with a woman, according to Global, citing unnamed sources. This would be a civilian employee, said the “Toronto Star”.
Toronto police spokeswoman Stephanie Sayer confirmed Scott’s suspension and the appointment of a new acting superintendent pending an investigation into the incident.
The high-ranking lawyer, who has more than 35 years of service and who has already been awarded for the whole of his career, indicated to the “Star” that he trusts the process in progress. “However, he categorically denies having committed any misconduct whatsoever,” assured Me Joseph Markson.
CACP spokeswoman Natalie Wright also said the incident is under investigation.
“We fully support and cooperate with this investigation. The CACP condemns any inappropriate or illegal behavior by police officers at any time, including at CACP events,” she stressed.

This is the third time a Toronto police superintendent has been relieved of his duties this year. In January, Superintendent Riyaz Hussein was charged with impaired driving following an accident on Highway 401. Superintendent Stacy Clarke faces a charge of professional misconduct for her actions in the purpose of getting a promotion.
