Twitter suspended the account of a Republican Hispanic candidate to the Florida Legislature following he shared a violent message once morest federal agents.
Luis Miguel, candidate for District 20, expressed on Twitter that under his government plan, federal agents might be shot in the state.
“Under my plan, all Floridians will be allowed to shoot the FBI, IRS (Internal Revenue Service), ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives), and other federal (agents) in sight! Let freedom ring!” was the post shared by the applicant.
A similar post was removed from his Instagram account.
In an interview with NBC, Miguel confirmed the message on networks. Nevertheless, assured that he did not refer to illegal actions.
“In no way am I defending any type of violence once morest federal agents, whether it comes from vigilantes, extra-judicial or illegal,” he stated.
According to the Republican, his tweet referred to legislation that would require federal agencies to obtain permission from the state to operate in the state, and that people can protect themselves from threats to life and property.
In a previous interview with Florida Politics, Miguel argued that what he shared is justified because the IRS is militarizing dissident forces, an apparent reference to speculation by some Republicans that the tax collection agency is developing an armed force of 80,000 agents focused on average Americans.
The Hispanic’s statements came following agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) executed a search warrant at the Mar-a-Lago home of former President Donald Trump on the handling of presidential documents, including classified documents. Following the intervention of federal agents, a man attacked an FBI office in Cincinnati and was fatally shot by authorities.
