The fights, the resistance and the political positions of the time which reflect the common will of the Throne and the people, recall full of civic values and patriotism, affirmed Mr. El Ktiri, noting that along the stages of the struggle and of the national resistance, the cities of Khouribga, Bejaad, Oued Zem as well as the neighboring tribes provided strong support and an undeniable contribution to the epic of freedom, independence and unity of the country.
The inhabitants of this region participated with courage and bravery in the struggle for the independence and liberation of the Kingdom, denouncing the decision of the colonial authorities to exile on August 20, 1953, the late HM Mohammed V and his fellow fighter the late HM Hassan II, while strongly opposing the maneuvers of the French general residence to break the age-old and unbreakable ties between the people and their King and also to undermine the spirit of national resistance.
They also intensified the armed struggle and carried out several operations that targeted the interests of the French colonizer, which prompted the latter to retaliate with violence by launching a vast campaign of repression and arrests throughout the region, mainly targeting the young people, he added.
The inhabitants of this region created several secret resistance cells and played a major role during the popular uprisings and the revolution of August 19 and 20, 1955, despite the fierce repression and the various forms of violence and torture they encountered from the part of the French army, underlined Mr. El Ktiri.
He further pointed out in this regard that acts of resistance and struggle have multiplied in the region with the intensification of operations by the National Liberation Army until the triumphant return from exile of the Father of the Nation. , the late SM Mohammed V, his companion in struggle, the late Hassan II, and the Royal family on November 16, 1955 and the end of the era of the protectorate.
In recognition of the sacrifices made by the men and women of this region, a tribute was paid on this occasion to seven former resistance fighters and members of the liberation army from the region. Financial and social aid worth a total of 126,818 dirhams was also given on this occasion to the families of former resistance fighters and former members of the National Liberation Army in need.
