Drone video shows an alligator swimming towards JC Defeats in a Florida lake.
A drone was only supposed to film JC Defeats (34) swimming. But instead she took up his life and death struggle!
On August 3, the American got into the water in Lake Thonotosassa in Hillsborough County (Florida). He wanted to record a video for his sports company. As soon as he is in the lake, it happens: The crocodile swims directly towards Defeats. In the video you can see how the animal bites the man’s head. At first it felt like he had slammed his face into a telephone pole, he says in an interview WFXR Fox. “Then I felt the scales and the teeth, so I knew where I was,” he said.
But he doesn’t give up and fights for his life until the animal lets go of him. Seriously injured, the man manages to swim to a jetty. The force of the crocodile’s mouth crushed part of his skull and broke his jaw. Looking back, Defeats says believing in not dying is what kept him alive.
Doctors had to remove parts of his skull
It is not the first time that a human has been attacked by a crocodile in this region. There have already been three attacks in the past three weeks.
But this time it was particularly bad: JC Defeats was admitted to Tampa General Hospital. The injury was so severe that doctors had to perform a craniectomy. So parts of his skull were removed in a six-hour operation.
