Who will be the next captain of the Montreal Canadiens? That’s a question that’s been on the minds of the team’s fans for some time. Everyone wonders who will be the famous successor to Shea Weber, and that’s normal.
We love hockey, following all. Nope?
The names of Nick Suzuki, Brendan Gallagher and Joel Edmundson (and even Josh Anderson) often come up in discussion. All three have the potential to bring a different element to the bedroom and are being talked regarding as the most logical candidates for the team’s next captain.
At least, if we rely on the words of Jimmy Murphy, we can expect that Joel Edmundson is excluded from the race. A source close to the team would have told him that it is currently being played out between Nick Suzuki and Brendan Gallagher, as can be read in the text below.
Brendan Gallagher and Nick Suzuki appear to be the top two candidates to become the next captain of the #GoHabsGo.

I said it a few times and I always say the same thing, but… In my opinion, Nick Suzuki is the one who should earn the important role of captain of the CH.
He showed me that he had what it takes to meet the challenge in the coming years, despite the fact that he is still very young. He already wore the “A” on his jersey last year, is a crowd favorite and seems to be well liked by the other guys in the locker room.
Yeah, maybe that’s a lot of pressure on the shoulders of a kid 23-year-old who has just signed a monstrous contract. But, this pressure, Suzuki does not seem to be afraid of it.
All this can also be granted to Brendan Gallagher, by the way. What bothers me a little regarding Gally is the fact that he is often injured and is far from being the favorite of NHL referees due to… I don’t even need to tell you why.
Both guys would make good captains and I think we can all agree on that. It will be interesting to see what the process will be for this appointment in the coming weeks.
Will the players choose it (as Serge Savard suggests), or the decision will be made by the group of coaches? The question still remains unanswered for the moment.
And if you were asked, what would your choice be?
