The Traffic Data Analysis System, developed by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer and the Transport Department in June this year, analyzes and integrates traffic detector data, real-time road accident information, weather and other data to predict road conditions for users in the next 15 to 90 minutes, covering road sections rate of over seventy percent.
The government launched a new generation of government cloud infrastructure and a big data analysis platform last year. Through deep learning analysis of voiceprint and image data, the government developed illegally modified vehicle detectors. The cost is only 1% of traditional equipment. 15 big data analytics projects and over 350 digital government services.
Among them, the traffic data analysis system developed in June this year integrates the traffic detectors of the Transport Department, real-time road accident information, estimated arrival time of public transport, past traffic records, real-time and forecast weather data, etc. In addition to traffic conditions, it can also predict the road conditions in the next 15 to 90 minutes, and can analyze the impact of traffic accidents and bad weather. The entire system covers nearly 2,500 kilometers of road, accounting for more than 70% of the roads in Hong Kong.
Citizens can search for routes through the mobile application “HKeMobility”. The system will predict the corresponding travel time according to the departure time selected by the user, and provide services in the event of weather warnings such as red and yellow rain, traffic accidents or burst water pipes and other emergencies. Operators plan diversions to help users plan their trips in advance.
