Mélanie and Bruno d’Apeldoorn have had to live for six years with the loss of their daughter. “By sharing our story now, we can tell what happened to us. Maybe it will comfort others. We know that unfortunately we are not the only ones to whom this happens, ”they confide to RTL Nieuws.
Nadine fell on the sixth day of their vacation in Alanya. Stopped at a belvedere, the young girl and her brother began to climb, when a cry sounded. “I immediately saw that a large stone of regarding 100 kilos was half on top of her. I pushed her away. And I started resuscitation, ”recalls his father. The family waited an hour and a half for help. A vain help, because Nadine died on the spot.
“It may be crazy, but I’m resigned to what happened,” says his dad. “Nature gives and takes. I accepted it. His mother, meanwhile, returned to the scene a year following the accident. “I really needed it. I had Nadine’s name engraved in a stone and left it there. It comforted me. »
The young girl dreamed of traveling, and her relatives have a ritual on each trip: they bring back stones from the countries visited, for Nadine. “I always take his passport with me in addition to mine when I travel. This is how Nadine always travels with us”, concludes her mother.
