The police investigated the allegation that President Yoon Seok-yeol’s wife, Kim Gun-hee, tried to bribe Lee Myung-soo, a reporter for Seoul’s voice, with money, but it was confirmed that the investigation was closed because there was no concrete evidence.

The anti-corruption and public crime investigation team of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has decided not to hand over to the prosecution Mrs. Kim, who was accused of buying a media organization under the Public Official Election Act by the civic group Peace Tree.

The police confirmed the allegation that Mrs. Kim handed 1,050,000 won to this reporter for lectures at the Cobana Contents office in Seocho-dong, and said that she would give 100 million won if they worked together.

However, police said this reporter first started calling for the purpose of covering the case of Mrs. Kim’s mother, Mrs. Choi, and even looking at the entire transcript, there was no mention of the direction of the election-related reporting. It was determined that there was no fact that there was no particularly favorable report.

Accordingly, the police concluded that there was no concrete evidence to suggest that Mrs. Kim paid this reporter for the election of President Yoon with money to get him to report favorable or to avoid unfavorable reporting.

Previously, a civic group had filed a complaint with the police once morest Mrs. Kim, accusing her of giving money or promising a large sum of money to this reporter from Seoul Sound for an election campaign when her husband, President Yoon, was a candidate.
