It looks nice, but he doesn’t get far with the discus: Simon Ehammer.

Simon Ehammer, the man of extremes, has the silver medal worn on Wednesday evening in the Olympic Park in Munich.

The Appenzeller was on the European Championships podium, although he had come last three times in the decathlon.

In three disciplines, the name Simon Ehammer only appears at the end, apart from athletes who did not achieve a valid result. With 34.92 m in the discus, the 22-year-old has collected 562 measly points – clearly the lowest number of points of all athletes in a discipline of this European Championship decathlon. Only the Swiss has less than 600 points. Incidentally, the second lowest score also comes from Ehammer, for 4:48.72 minutes over 1500 m he received 626 points. The Swiss also finished at the end of the scale in javelin throwing (53.46 m/640 points).

Such weak scores are as rare in decathletes of international level as Ehammer’s breakaways to the top. Over 110 m hurdles and especially with 8.31 in the long jump, he has made more than 1000 and 1100 points respectively. The fact is: No other decathlete shows such striking differences in performance. From this point of view, Ehammer’s statement makes sense: “If I then master the throws, I become dangerous.”

hey, sda
