Little good news for those who have used the winter service of Neunkirchner businesses.
NEUKIRCHEN/DISTRICT. For years, the winter clearing service was an integral part of the services provided by Neunkirchner Wirtschaftsbetriebe (nkwb). Now, however, the company is unilaterally resolving the contracts with its customers – and that’s what some between Wr. Be Neustadt and Semmering – up. Instead, a (more expensive) new solution is offered.
Away from the running meter price
For years, customers only paid for the snow clearing service for the sidewalk according to the running meters to be cleared. The price was cheap and the customers were happy. “I used this service for five years,” said a Neunkirchner to the district newspapers.

The customer doesn’t like the fact that another contract is being forced on him. A seasonal flat rate will be due in future. “Plus additional costs for each mission,” said Neunkirchner. nkwb Managing Director Hans Spies can understand the displeasure of the customers. “But we examined the cost accounting and came to the conclusion that we always carried money,” says Spies. According to nkwb Managing Director Spies, there have been cases where the clearance around single-family homes would have cost only 60 euros per season. “Something had to be done,” said Spies.
15 percent inflation
The seasonal flat rate only covers the fixed costs; for example, that the snow plow, the grit and the staff are available. The additional flat-rate fee is due when it is actually time to shovel snow. “On average, we are dealing with around 15 percent additional costs. There have been no increases for years. We have a lot of catching up to do in terms of price increases,” emphasizes Spies.
