87,000 visitors saw the opera “Nabucco” in the St. Margarethen quarry in Burgenland. This corresponds to an occupancy rate of 92 percent for 20 performances. The organizers spoke of a “great success” in a broadcast. In the new adaptation by director Francisco Negrin, the 180-year-old Verdi story was on the St. Margarethen repertoire for the fourth time. “With this new interpretation of ‘Nabucco’ we were able to build on the success of previous years and even surpass them. The great response from the audience confirms our concept in the unique setting of the opera in the quarry,” said Artistic Director Daniel Serafin.
In 2023 George Bizet’s “Carmen” will be shown in the quarry. Ticket sales for the coming year have already started. The premiere of “Carmen” is on July 12, 2023.
