Exclusive translation: A German man was infected with monkeypox, which led to a rotting of his nose in one of the most shocking cases documented of the new virus sweeping several European countries.
At first, the 40-year-old went to his own doctor with some cuts on his nose and was misdiagnosed as “the sun” but following 3 days the wounds started spreading frighteningly.
According to the newspaper, “The Daily Mail”, the skin turned black and then began to fall off, revealing a frightening nose, and at regarding the same time, white spots filled with pus appeared all over his body.
Further examinations revealed that the patient – whose name has not been released – also had undiagnosed syphilis and HIV, and he told medics that he had never before been tested for sexually transmitted diseases.
Doctors said his condition had become very critical because the HIV virus had left him suffering so severely that he was more vulnerable and became easy prey for monkeypox which gnawed at him.
