The Maxkirche invites you to an exciting vocal concert

The Maxkirche in the old town is hosting an a cappella concert with the Ensemble 5v. The new autumn program is also available.

Sophisticated a cappella vocal music from the Renaissance can be heard on Friday, August 19 at 8 p.m. in a concert in the Maxkirche (Schulstrasse, Altstadt). The vocal ensemble 5v around the baritone Gregor Finke interprets works by Orlando di Lasso and Johann Walter.

While Orlando di Lasso (1532 to 1594), one of the greatest composers of his time, wrote Catholic church music, Johann Walter (1496 to 1570), a generation older, lived the Reformation in Torgau on the Elbe at close quarters. In the Maxkirche, motets by both composers are juxtaposed, in which they set the same text to music. In addition, the Ensemble 5v interprets Mass and Magnificat settings by Orlando di Lasso.

The ensemble 5v consists of five singers. They are Stefanie Brijoux (soprano), Leonhard Reso and Bohyeon Mun (tenor), Christian Walter (bass) and Gregor Finke (baritone and direction). Admission is free, but donations are requested at the exit.

In addition, the musical autumn program of the Maxkirche has now been published, which Maxkantor Markus Belmann arranged with a lot of imagination. In addition to the festive liturgical accompaniment of selected services, it includes a number of special projects and concerts: several Bach motets on a Sunday followingnoon, Bach’s “Goldberg Variations” in the juxtaposition of piano, harpsichord and organ, the “Requiem” by Luigi Cherubini, medieval flute music and much more.
