The President of the Republic exchanged with a UN delegation

The Head of State, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, received in audience, Friday, August 12, 2022, Ms. Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, and Mr. Mahamat Saleh Annadif, Special Representative in charge of the UN Office for West Africa and the Sahel.

The President of the Republic’s exchanges with the UN delegation essentially focused on the regional security context, President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé’s constant commitment to peace, and, in particular, Togolese mediation for a concerted resolution of the situation of the soldiers. Ivorians arrested in Mali last month.

Togo’s role was once more hailed by the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, who welcomed the initiatives of the President of the Republic, and reiterated the confidence of her organization for a satisfactory outcome under the auspices of the Togolese mediator.

For his part, the Head of State reaffirmed his determination to see Togo contribute tirelessly to the peaceful resolution of disputes and participate in the maintenance of peace in the region, in order to optimize the chances of sustainable development and inclusive.

The delegation also made, with the President of the Republic, the point of cooperation between the United Nations and Togo and more particularly the preparations for the next General Assembly of the organization scheduled for September 20 and which will see the participation of several world leaders.

Togo works alongside States and regional, continental and international bodies by participating in the maintenance of peace and security in the world by regularly providing the United Nations with contingents whose efficiency and professionalism are always recognized.
