An oil tanker carrying 33,000 tonnes of « Super » docked on Sunday August 14, 2022 at the autonomous port of Pointe-Noire, in order to deal with the fuel shortage situation observed for several weeks in the Republic of Congo.

Alexandre Honoré Paka, prefect of the Pointe-Noire department, accompanied by a delegation from the National Petroleum Company of Congo (SNPC), visited the autonomous port of Pointe-Noire « to see the arrival and disembarkation of oil products ». It is therefore a tanker containing 33,000 tonnes of so-called “Super” fuel which docked last Sunday August 14, 2022 in Pointe-Noire in order to resolve the thorny situation of the fuel shortage. fuel on the market. “This is a first load to arrive, we have another ship which is already offshore and which will also moor as soon as this one has finished unloading and as the rhythm will continue until it secures a normalization of the situation regarding low fuel stocks in the Republic of Congo », explained the communication and public relations advisor to the director general of SNPC, Guili Tsoumou Gavouka. It should be noted that the arrival of this first shipment follows the government’s announcement on August 10 during a session of oral questions with debate in the upper house of the Congolese parliament regarding the resolution of the fuel shortage in the country.
