Promising English striker Jimmy Bayno-Gittens has extended his contract with the German club Borussia Dortmund until 2025, the yellow and black club announced on Tuesday.
The decision to extend the extension comes following Baino-Geitenz scored a goal from his team’s hat-trick in the 3-1 victory over its host Freiburg on Friday, shortly following he celebrated his eighteenth birthday (8 August 2004).
Dortmund coach Eddin Terzic praised the young Englishman following the victory, describing him as a “game changer” and “he can make the difference for us”.
Terzic hit the young striker in the 74th minute instead of Belgian Thorgan Hazard, following his team was behind 0-1, to contribute to the return of the “black and yellow” by scoring the equalizer in the 77th minute.
Some likened the career of Baino-Giennes, who was born in the capital, London, who represented England at all levels of youth teams and won the European Under-19 Championship this summer with the “Three Lions”, with his compatriot, former Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, who moved to Manchester United in 2021 for 85 million euros. ($86.1 million), as he was presented to the Signal Iduna Park from Manchester City Academy in the summer of 2020 at the age of 17.
It is characterized by speed and creativity
Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl said on Tuesday that the sky was the limit for the “very special” Bainault-Geitenz.
“Jimmy has always been quick and creative, with his unpredictability in one-on-ones, he gives our team a special element even at a young age.”
“It’s fun to watch him work on himself and his playing style during the match. We are far from seeing the end of this development, and we will give him the time needed to do so.”
Pino-Geitenz thanks Dortmund
In return, Pino-Giennes thanked the club for their support during difficult moments that “mean a lot to me”, stressing that he never doubted regarding extending his contract.
And he added, “My goal has always been to continue my career in Dortmund following suffering from Covid and some injuries at the beginning,” adding, “Now I can’t wait to continue working hard on myself and my playing style in the hope of continuing to help the team in the coming months and years.”
On the day following Dortmund’s victory, the other Englishman, Judd Bellingham, 19, thanked his “sons” and the second substitute, Youssoufa Mukoko, 17, who scored the second goal, for keeping Dortmund’s record unbeaten in the 2022-2023 season.
Dortmund is in second place with 6 points, with a goal difference from leaders Bayern Munich and the defending champion in the past ten seasons.
