Among the stars who excelled in the field of comedy, and invented a new color of diagnosis and representation, was Mohamed Kamal Al-Masry, who was born on August 11, 1886, on Mohamed Ali Street.
Muhammad grew up in a family that did not like art in any way. On the contrary, his father, a teacher at Al-Azhar, qualified him to go on the same path. After a period of brilliance in school, Muhammad Kamal began to move between different theatrical groups, until fate pushed him to the Salama Hijazi Troupe, which opened the doors of fame for him, especially following he participated in the play “Born on Muhammad Ali Street”, during which he embodied his famous character “Sharfantah”. Or “Natat Al-Hait”, which will be known later in the artistic community.
After the great success that Muhammad Kamal achieved with the Salama Hegazy band, he moved between more than one band and more than one artistic work, until the cinema received him in the best possible way and contributed to the industry of his stardom and great fame, but the happy beginnings do not refer to happy endings, as a series of The problems and difficulties of collapsing to end what “Sharfanteh” made and bring him to the tragic end that his worst enemies did not wish for him.
In the year 1954, “Sharfantah” developed asthma, and was no longer able to stand on stage or in front of the camera, and with the doctors’ instructions that he should rest, the producers and directors began looking for a replacement for him, which saddened him greatly, especially since he spent all his money on treatment, He might no longer find his livelihood, until he ended up living in a dark room alone, and when news reached the union, it decided to spend 10 pounds for him as a monthly pension.
The suffering did not stop there, as he ended up dying in 1966 without anyone knowing that he had died, as the neighbors did not feel his departure until following a foul smell came out of his apartment, so the neighbors broke into the apartment and made sure of his departure following his body rotted for a week.
