Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Spanish left-back Sergio Gomes from Anderlecht, Belgium, in a four-year deal, for 11 million pounds ($13 million).
The under-21 international became the fourth signing of the English Premier League champions in the summer transfer period, following the arrival of Norwegian Erling Haaland, Calvin Phillips and German goalkeeper Stefan Ortega Moreno.
Gomes, who previously played in the Barcelona youth ranks, said that City are the best team in England, and with Pep Guardiola I have the opportunity to learn and develop under the leadership of the most distinguished coach in world football.
He added: “Being part of this club is a dream come true for me, and it is something that any young player aspires to.
For his part, the director of football for the English club, Chiqui Begiristain, said that Gomes was an exciting young talent.
He added: “We are sure that he will be an additional quality for our squad in defense and attack, and that he will certainly continue to develop and improve his game under the leadership of Pep and his coaches.
Last week, Guardiola confirmed the impending arrival of Gomes, rejecting the proposal to loan him this season.
