In the region of Kherson, the first major city to fall on March 3, Ukraine claimed to have virtually isolated the Russian troops deployed on the west bank of the Dnieper by bombardments which made the three bridges in the area impassable.
“The only means of crossing the river for the occupier are pontoons near the Antonivsky bridge, but they will not be able to fully meet their equipment and ammunition needs”, declared a regional deputy, Serguiï Khlan.
In addition to the Antonivski Bridge, in the suburbs of Kherson, hit several times by missiles since the end of July, that of the Nova Kakhovka dam, 50 kilometers to the northeast, was hit several times this week, including on Saturday, according to the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
“Shipping ammunition, fuel and heavy equipment needed for offensive operations or even large-scale defensive operations by pontoon or by air is impractical, if not impossible,” says the ISW.
