Large-scale operation after a scuffle including shots in the Swiss garden

A pistol was seized from a suspect.

Wien. A scuffle including knives and shots from a blank pistol triggered a large-scale police operation in the Schweizer Garten on Vienna’s Landstrasse on Sunday morning. The officials were alerted around eight o’clock because, according to witnesses, shots had been fired in the park. According to a passerby, the two groups involved fled following an escalated argument. The police were able to stop two victims (17, 18) and two suspects aged 24 and 33.

The 17 and 18-year-olds said that several people suddenly attacked them. Both were threatened with a jackknife and thrown at them with a glass bottle and stones. In addition, one of the suspects is said to have fired shots into the air with a pistol. The 18-year-old said he was hit with a belt.

The two accused did not confess. However, a pistol was seized from them. This is said to belong to the 24-year-old, and a temporary weapon ban was imposed on him. A search for the other suspects was initially unsuccessful. Further details regarding the background were not available.
