Media: Baumgartlinger agreed with Augsburg

According to a report in the “Bild” newspaper, midfielder Julian Baumgartlinger is in agreement with the German Bundesliga club FC Augsburg. As the newspaper reported on Monday, the 84-time ÖFB team player would sign a one-year contract on Tuesday. The 34-year-old from Baumgartlinger was last without a contract following the end of his six-year commitment at Bayer Leverkusen.

Augsburg is reacting to the injury-related absence of Niklas Dorsch, expecting “mentality and personality” from the 239-time Bundesliga kicker (Mainz and Leverkusen), wrote the “Bild”. Due to injury, the Baumgartlinger from Salzburg has only made a few appearances at Leverkusen in the last two seasons.

The move to Augsburg is also important in terms of a possible continuation of his team career, which has been on hold since June 2021. “If I can continue to play at a good level and the coach wants me, I’m ready,” the multiple ÖFB captain said in May.
