A wooden road bridge collapsed Monday morning in southern Norway, plunging a car into the water. Rescuers try to secure a truck stuck on the balanced structure
“Reports that the Tretten bridge has collapsed. A heavy goods vehicle and a private car would have fallen into the water,” local police first said on Twitter around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.
“The situation is not clear. Work is currently underway to secure the truck.” The car was reportedly partially submerged. The passengers of these two vehicles were brought to safety, but the police specify that “we cannot exclude that there are other people in the water. »
All local rescue personnel are mobilized.
Inaugurated in 2012, the Tretten Bridge is a steel and wooden structure 148 meters long and 10 meters wide which crosses the Gudbrandsdalslågen river on a secondary road. It has two lanes for vehicles and a sidewalk.
