London: The source of Thames, the longest river in Britain, has dried up. Experts point out that the source has dried up due to heat wave and intense heat. Officials also expressed concern that England is entering a drought without any preparations.
It is 356 km long, starting in Gloucestershire in the west and flowing through the heart of England to the sea in Essex in the east. The Thames is a long river. Water levels at the source of the Thames usually fall during the summer, but this is the first time it has fallen this far.
Britain’s Met Office has announced that 2022 will be the worst drought England has seen since 1935. Only 23.1 mm of rain was received in July. This is only 35 percent of the average. Last Thursday, the Department of Meteorology warned that England and Wales will experience four days of extreme heat.
Meteorologist and hydrologist Hannah Cloke said that if there is not enough rain in August and the coming winter is dry, the situation in the country will worsen. The heat wave and wildfires were intense in the West.
