US nonpartisan delegation visits Taiwan again… “China strongly objected”

A non-partisan delegation from the United States visited Taiwan once more amid heightened tensions between the two sides as China strongly protested once morest House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s forced visit.

The Central News Agency and Dongmang reported on the 15th that five non-partisan members of the House of Representatives, including Senator Ed Markey, a former Democratic Party member of the United States, arrived in Taiwan in the followingnoon of the previous day.

The nonpartisan delegation, which landed in Taipei by airplane and government-only flight, was greeted by We Dalei (?大?), Deputy Minister of Commerce (Vice Minister) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Xu Yudian (徐佑典), President of North America (Director), respectively.

The non-partisan delegation will stay until the 15th to meet high-ranking Taiwanese officials, including President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文), to exchange views on common interests and pending issues, including security, economic and trade relations, the media reported.

The nonpartisan delegation visiting Taiwan included Democrats John Garramendy, Alan Loensol, Don Bayer and Republican Representative Aumua Amata Coleman Radewagen, along with Sen. .

On the 2nd, Pelosi visited Taiwan for the first time in 25 years as a US House of Representatives speaker, despite repeated warnings from China.

In response, China posed a military threat to Taiwan, including launching ballistic missiles while conducting large-scale military exercises to encircle Taiwan from the 4th to the 10th.

Since then, the Chinese military has continued provocations, such as fighter planes crossing the midline of the Taiwan Strait and entering Taiwanese airspace every day.

In the midst of this, it is expected to further stimulate China as a nonpartisan delegation arrives 11 days following House Speaker Pelosi left Taiwan.

In a statement, Taiwanese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhang Dunhan (張惇涵) said in a statement that it welcomed the large number of nonpartisan delegations, saying it was “a sign of friendship that is not afraid of Chinese threats and of the United States’ firm support for Taiwan.”

Spokesperson Jang Du-han added, “The democratic partners show their determination to protect the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait and the region together.”
