“I suddenly receive an invoice telling me that I have to pay 1,890 euros more”

“Ten years ago, I had solar panels installed,” says Nico Neyens, from Sint-Huibrechts-Lille, to our colleagues at HBvL. “Each year, I get an average yield of just under 6 MWh. It’s more than enough for our family. »

An average family consumes 3.5 MWh per year, so Nico’s meter is running backwards. Nevertheless, he mightn’t believe his eyes when he received his bill: “This year, I suddenly receive a bill telling me that I have to pay an additional 1,890 euros,” he explains, as he no longer received supplements for its electricity since the installation of its solar panels.

Last year, Nico took the meter reading himself and thinks he gave the wrong numbers. But Engie does not seem to be going in his direction. Contacted by our colleagues, the supplier indicates that the 2021 statement, although incorrect, has been validated by the distribution network manager, Fluvius. Engie contacted the latter so that the error might be confirmed and corrected, in order to send a correct invoice to Nico.
