Kongoussi, August 14, 2022 (AIB)- The provincial directorate of primary and non-formal preschool education of Bam organized a day of excellence for Teksum schools on Saturday August 6, 2022 in Kongoussi.
More than 140 actors composed of teachers, students and parents of students all from Teksum schools have been rewarded by the promoter of said schools through its representation in Burkina Faso.
The ceremony took place under the theme: “Giving children the opportunity to go to school”.
The prizes consisted of bicycles and school kits for the students, and computers or tablets and a certificate of recognition for the best teachers.
The provincial president of the parents’ association, El Hadj Harouna Koanda welcomed the presence of Per Tore Teksum who left Norway for Kongoussi just this day, despite the difficult security situation in the locality.
In turn, the promoter of Teksum schools, Per Tore Teksum made the history of the opening of his very first school in the village of Malwalé in the commune of Bourzanga in 2006.
Today, there are 12 Teksum schools in Bam province and Per Tore Teksum says he is impressed with the results achieved in these schools despite the growing insecurity.
“I am pleased with the results which show a rate of 65.85% at the CEP, a percentage above the national average” he specified.
The provincial director of primary and non-formal preschool education of Bam, Toussida Ouédraogo indicated that this day of excellence makes it possible to magnify the work of all the actors of the schools concerned.
He added that the recorded performances are due to the commitment and sacrifice of all the actors.
“It is also the result of the social cohesion that reigns in the schools,” he underlined before inviting teachers to do better next year.
Toussida Ouédraogo urged the students who were not among the Laureates this year, to redouble their efforts “in order to rise among the distinguished of 2023”.
As a reminder, Per Tore Teksum is a citizen of Norwegian nationality who learned on Burkina national television in 2005 that the lack of school infrastructure in the center-north region deprived many children of education.
Thus, since 2006, it has been operating in Bam with its own funds through the construction of school complexes in underprivileged areas. He has invested more than one billion CFA francs in the province of Bam.
For service rendered to the nation, he was decorated knight of the Order of Merit of Academic Palms on December 11, 2015 by the Burkinabè authorities.
