Partygoers die in car crash after street parade

An accident happened at 3:35 a.m. near the village of Villigen AG. According to the Aargau canton police, a white VW drove down from Rotberg in the direction of Villigen. The driver tried to overtake a Ford in a right-hand bend. The VW got on a turf to the left of the road, hit a tree and fell down the slope. The car came to a standstill lying on its roof in the forest, the police said on Sunday.

The four occupants of the Ford were not injured. Two of the occupants of the VW, a 25-year-old Dominican and a 33-year-old Italian, were seriously injured and had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance and rescue helicopter. The other two occupants died at the scene of the accident. According to the police, it is a 25-year-old Brazilian and a 24-year-old Swiss woman living in the canton of Zurich and Lucerne respectively. The car involved in the accident was totaled.

As the Aargau canton police also reported, all the people sitting in the VW knew each other. They would have spent Saturday at the Street Parade in Zurich. Why they set out from Rotberg in the early morning towards Villigen is still being clarified. The road had to be closed for several hours to secure evidence. The public prosecutor’s office in Aargau is now investigating the exact cause of the accident.

16-year-old dies in motorbike accident

In the announcement, the cantonal police also reported an accident involving a 16-year-old from the Brugg AG region. Before the eyes of his colleagues, he accelerated his motorcycle around 11 p.m. in Kölliken AG before losing control of the motorcycle following a few meters and crashing into a candelabra. He was fatally injured in the process.
