Samsung’s new flagship phones, Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4, have passed performance tests, as soon as foldable devices reach users, as is the case for all new flagship phones, but the tests revealed a serious flaw in the foldable phone in a clamshell manner.
Samsung had revealed the new generation of its foldable phones Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4 at the Unbacked event on August 10, which came with improvements to the design and internal hardware, led by the first generation, and the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus processor.
According to the performance test conducted by the famous PCMag site, the two new Samsung phones work with a powerful processor to provide outstanding performance and the ability to run games at an image refresh rate of up to 120 frames per second, but the Galaxy Z Flip 4 has a defect that clearly appeared during the tests.
The test-taker confirmed that the Galaxy Z Flip 4 is the most disruptive flagship phone he has ever come across following a short period of peak performance from the processor.
According to the results, it seems that, as reported by Qualcomm and Samsung recently, the first generation Snapdragon 8 Plus offers really interesting performance and tests showed an improvement in performance of regarding 10% as mentioned by the two companies.
The improvement in performance is not clearly significant, but it remains an improvement when compared to previous generations, or more precisely the previous processor.
The bad news is, that following a hard test on the Galaxy Z Flip 4, the phone quickly succumbed to stress and began to noticeably degrade performance despite only regarding 15 minutes of testing.
The report explained, that the two phones started with roughly the same performance for 15 minutes, but following a few minutes the Flip fell significantly in performance while the Fold continued to perform well.
The tester did a short gaming session in order to observe performance, spending 5 minutes playing Alto’s Odyssey, a relatively light game, followed by another 5 minutes in Genshin Impact, a high-performance game, set to medium graphics quality and 60 frames refresh rate in The second is with the use of the WeTest PerfDog test program to find out the frame rate and temperature during the test.
The first game The phone continued to provide a good experience at a refresh rate of 120 frames per second, but it quickly started noticing the temperature rise as it reached 104 degrees.
In the second game, the performance fell and I gave an experience that did not exceed 40 frames per second, reaching only 38 and 39 frames following entering the 6th minute.
In the end, the person responsible for the testing process confirmed that the rapid decline in performance under high pressure is a serious defect in the Galaxy Z Flip 4, especially since it was noticed for the first time during the testing process of a flagship phone, as the clamshell foldable phone was the sharpest and the fastest to throttle performance.
It should also be noted, that the last phone, Fold 4, did not face major problems with overheating or throttling performance as in the first, although both phones work with the same processor.
