Börse Express – Does Warren Buffett’s successor have a similar interest as the Oracle of Omaha?

Warren Buffett’s successor is certain: it will be Greg Abel, who is still the head of the energy division of Berkshire Hathaway (WKN: A0YJQ2) is. For many analysts, this is a good decision. After all, Abel has the DNA of the conglomerate himself in his entrepreneurial skills.

Still, the question is whether anyone can even begin to replace Warren Buffett. Whether the motivation is still the same is also a relevant issue. Let’s summarize an interesting opinion on the case that I read recently.

Greg Abel: Not as invested as Warren Buffett

We can certainly say that Greg Abel is nowhere near as invested as Warren Buffett. The Oracle of Omaha is Berkshire Hathaway’s largest shareholder, following all. Of course, using this measure as a comparative value would not necessarily be fair either.

After all, Abel owns 5 A shares in Berkshire Hathaway and 2,363 B shares in the conglomerate. That is at least a value that is in the millions. His own financial interests are therefore somewhat tied to the conglomerate. Although this is the same Abel who recently raised $870 million from the sale of his 1% stake in Berkshire Hathaway Energy.

This might mean that the amount invested is comparatively small. At least for now. We do not know what Abel intends to do with the redeemed funds. But there is at least one indicator that even as an official, he likes to have skin in the game with the companies he runs. Will this also apply to Berkshire Hathaway in the future? Let’s wait and see what happens with the funds. It’s not likely to be a second Warren Buffett. But at least someone who, as a future CEO, might be a little more connected to the conglomerate.

nobody is like that

We’ll probably have to face it: No one is to Berkshire Hathaway what Warren Buffett is. There can be good sides, there can be bad sides. But sooner or later there will be a change. opportunity or risk? That’s a good question too. In the end, it’s just the change that we’re seeing right now. But we can see that in Greg Abel, who will be in charge of the fortunes of the holding company as an official in the future.
