Several major fires were underway this Friday, August 12, in France. Still in Gironde, where firefighters are facing a resumption of the huge Landiras fire, but also in the Jura, in Morbihan or even in Ardèche.
Every day, everywhere on the territory, France Bleu is mobilized to keep you informed of the evolution of these forest fires. Here is a summary of the situation.
Gironde
The fire between Gironde and Landes has not progressed “since two days” and is “maintained”, announced this Friday followingnoon the prefect of Gironde, Fabienne Buccio. The burned area is always 7,400 hectares of vegetation.
The last 20 km portion of the A63 closed until now will reopen “tonight at 8 p.m.”, said the prefect, on the eve of the weekend of August 15 which promises to be busy on the roads. The firefighters undertake to close this axis in less than an hour if necessary.
In the field, 361 firefighters from several European countries are beginning to lend a hand to 1,100 French firefighters already deployed.
10,000 people are still evacuated to Hostens, Saint-Magne, Belin-Béliet but also Mano or Moustey.

Morbihan
A large fire broke out overnight from Thursday to Friday in the Brocéliande forest in Morbihan, in Campénéac, near the border with Ille-et-Vilaine. The fire is “two-thirds content”, according to the prefect of Morbihan, but is progressing “towards the west”. At 5:30 p.m., “250 to 260” hectares burned. Homes are threatened but none have been affected for the moment, and 150 inhabitants of Campénéac and the Sisters of the Notre-Dame de la joie abbey have been evacuated.

More 400 firefighters are mobilized, helped by the two “Air Tractor” planes which arrived from Sweden on Thursday in Vannes which also intervene. Reinforcements, in particular from the Paris region, are also expected this Friday evening, said the prefect. They can also count on the support of farmers and their cisterns. Finistere
Numerous resumptions of fires burned more than 200 hectares vegetation this Friday in the Monts d’Arrée. Several hearths had already been revived by the wind last Saturday, burning 250 new hectares in this same sector or 1,800 hectares of vegetation had burned at the end of July.
This Friday, the recoveries were concentrated in two sectors, around Brasparts and Berrien. Fires are now fixed or contained.
The Finistère prefecture has also banned from this Friday access, circulation and the presence of the public in a large part of the massif until next Tuesday at 5 am.

Lozere / Aveyron
The fire which took between Lozère and Aveyron on Monday, in the Gorges du Tarn, has been fixed since Thursday evening, according to the prefecture of Aveyron, but vigilance remains in order. The wind favors the resumption of the flames. The fire burned 730 hectares. 340 firefighters remain mobilized. Some roads are still closed in the Gorges du Tarn. The approximately 500 people evacuated to Rivière-sur-Tarn and Mostuéjouls, residents and holidaymakers, were able to return to their homes or summer residences.
And self-employed has been charged for involuntary destruction by fire and placed under judicial supervision as part of the investigation into this outbreak of fire.

Ardeche
The fire that broke out on Wednesday evening in Lagorce in Ardèche ravaged at least 320 hectares and “has been fixed”, announced the department prefecture on Friday followingnoon. “However, 150 to 200 firefighters are still mobilized and 50 firefighters will still be mobilized tonight, then a monitoring device will remain in place until the end of the weekend., she said in a statement. The 600 people evacuated on Thursday were able to return to their accommodation or campsites.

Drome
The fire that was started by lightning last Friday in Romeyer, in the Diois massif, is still active. It burned 330 hectares and still mobilizes 250 firefighters who have been facing renewed fires since midday on Friday.

Maine et Loire
Started on Monday, the main fire in Maine-et-Loire, in Bauge-en-Anjou, is fixed, announced the prefecture on Thursday. She said that 1,400 hectares were destroyed. The fire at Beaulieu is also fixed following traveling 150 hectares. 510 firefighters remain mobilized on the two sites, they are on “strong vigilance” due to the climatic conditions.
Jura
The fire is no longer progressing but is not fixed at Cernon, near Lake Vouglans, where he destroyed at least 500 hectares since Tuesday evening. 170 firefighters are still mobilized, supported by a Dash plane this Friday. The 250 inhabitants of Cernon allowed to go home since 6:30 p.m.
20 kilometers further south, the Cornod and Vosbles-Valfin fire has been fixed since Thursday noon. He destroyed 160 hectares, a stable balance since Thursday. 30 firefighters and 10 vehicles present on site are responsible for monitoring, drowning and extinguishing the fumaroles, helped there too by local farmers.
In total, the fires in the Jura have burned 660 hectares of vegetation. These fires are the most important since the beginning of the summer in Franche-Comté.
