SEMANA learned that there is a stir in the National Police and that the uniformed officers are demoralized. The reason? In order to appoint Major General Henry Sanabria and Deputy Director Yackeline Navarro Ordóñez as director, more than 20 generals of the Republic were beheaded.
Sanabria is the current administrative and financial director of the Police and has been with the institution for more than 20 years.
At the beginning of his career, he belonged to the Dijín, in the area of electronic intelligence. He has been in various positions in Cundinamarca, the General Santander School, the Directorate of Health and the Metropolitan Police of Cartagena.
He is a police administrator and lawyer, with specializations in administrative law, criminal investigation, security, criminal law, and criminology.
For his name to reach the direction of the National Police, replacing General Jorge Vargas, there would be an unprecedented sweep of the institution.
The new commander of the Armed Forces will be General Helder Fernán Giraldo Bonilla. For his part, the commander of the Navy will be Vice Admiral Francisco Hernando Cubides. The Air Force will remain in the hands of General Luis Carlos Córdoba Avendaño.
The new commander of the Army is Major General Luis Mauricio Ospina Gutiérrez.
The flag of this new military leadership, by order of President Gustavo Petro and Defense Minister Iván Velásquez, will be the so-called “human security.”
