Samsung unveiled two new foldable phones with flexible glass that folds down the middle of the screen, including the most expensive device to date.
The Korean tech giant revealed several new products during its Unpacked event on Wednesday, including the Galaxy Z Fold 4.
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 comes with a new taskbar along the bottom of the phone, giving a “PC-like experience” where users can easily see their apps, and it has 1TB of storage – but at a whopping £2019 price.
Samsung also launched the Galaxy Z Flip 4, which opens like an old phone from the 1990s thanks to a horizontal hinge in the middle of the screen, and if compared to last year’s Flip model, it has smaller bezels and a slimmer hinge for a perfect shape and better grip, she says. Samsung.
Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4
The Galaxy Z Flip 4 starts from £999 for 125GB storage and goes up to £1,199 for 512GB storage, and both models of smartphones are 5G compatible, come with IPX8 water resistance and can be folded and opened more than 200,000 times.
Paolo Pescatore, an analyst at PP Foresight, said the new Fold and Flip models have only “incremental upgrades” compared to last year’s versions.
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 has a vertical hinge down the center and essentially functions as a 2-in-1, with two screens – a smaller one on the outside that displays essential information when folded, and the larger internal screen like a tablet.
Significantly upgraded in camera and featuring the triple-camera system found in Samsung’s flagship S22, the Fold 4’s internal screen measures 7.6 inches diagonally – the same as the one on the Fold 3, which was released last year.
As for the prices, they vary depending on the storage capacity, of course, but they start from £ 1649 for 256 GB and reach £ 2019 for 1 TB.
The Fold 4 also features smaller bezels, meaning there’s more screen space while the phone itself remains the same size as last year’s Fold 3.
Samsung confirmed that the Fold 4 lasts longer on a single charge and plays videos for longer. It is also compatible with the S-Pen, which is sold separately.
