Emirates News Agency – Japan’s Nikkei rises to its highest level since last January

ABU DHABI, 12th August / WAM / Japanese stock indices rose at the close of trading today, achieving strong gains that pushed them to fly to their highest levels in several months.

The Nikkei index closed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, up 2.62%, or 727.65 points, to reach 28,546.98 points, its highest level since mid-January.

The broader Topix index rose by 2.04%, equivalent to 39.53 points, to close at 1973.18 points.

Japanese markets were closed yesterday for a local holiday.

In a related context, the performance of Chinese stock indices varied, with the “ESI” Composite Index on the Shanghai Stock Exchange dropping by 4.78 points, or 0.15%, to close at 3,276.89 points, while the Chinese Hang Seng Index rose in late trading by 0.21%, equivalent to 41.47 points, to reach The level of 20125.05 points.

The Bombay Synex index rose during trading by regarding 136.51 points, or 0.22%, to reach 59,462.87 points.
