NEW DELHI (Archyde.com) – The Indian government has reintroduced mandatory mask wearing in the capital, New Delhi, following the number of new coronavirus cases has increased in the past two weeks. The order to take measures was issued on the 8th and was announced on the 11th.

Anyone found not wearing a mask in public will be fined 500 rupees ($6).

A similar order was issued in April, but wear rates have not increased, and they are now not commonly worn in shopping malls and crowded markets.

New Delhi reported 2,146 new cases and eight deaths in the past 24 hours, the worst among all Indian states and federal territories.

In the past 24 hours, 16,299 people were confirmed to be infected nationwide, bringing the total to 44.2 million. The number of deaths increased by 53 to 526,879. However, the actual number is believed to be several times higher.
