Officially.. Halilhodzic sacked from the leadership of Morocco

On Thursday, the Moroccan Football Association, headed by Faouzi Lekjaa, announced the dismissal of Bosnian Vahid Halilhodzic from the leadership of the “Atlas Lions” team.

The contract was terminated by mutual consent, as the Bosnian coach had another year in his contract, according to Moroccan press reports.

Walid Regragui is scheduled to take over the leadership of the Moroccan team following his departure from Wydad, as he led the Casablanca giants to win the African Champions League and the League during the last season before losing the Throne Cup (Morocco Cup) from Nahde Berkane.

The 70-year-old has led Morocco since 2019, where he played 30 matches with the “Atlas Lions” team, but Halilhodzic was criticized following the defeat by Egypt in the African Cup of Nations, which was held in Cameroon.

It is worth noting that the Moroccan team is preparing for the World Cup, which will be held in Qatar 2022, where the “lions” are in Group F, along with the teams of Belgium, Canada and Croatia.
