The third installment in the Nintendo saga was unveiled during a Splatoon 3 Direct, which allowed us to learn more regarding its content.
Launched in 2015 on Wii U, the saga Splatoon quickly established itself as one of Nintendo’s most popular licenses. And following a very well-received and well-sold second opus (over 12 million copies), all fans’ eyes are now on September 9th. It is on this very precise date that is quite simply expected Splatoon 3which will of course be released on Nintendo Switch (who has just celebrated his fifth birthday).
Always crazier, always more complete
Less than a month from its release, the title developed by Nintendo EPD was the star a few hours ago of a Splatoon 3 Direct. The opportunity to learn a lot regarding this new opus. Regarding the content, this presentation revealed new details regarding the three main modes of Splatoon 3. We will therefore find the territory war, namely the emblematic mode where two teams of four compete to ink as much ground as possible and the Salmon Run, a cooperative mode in which four players must repel waves of dangerous Salmonoid bosses to recover golden eggs. And who says Splatoon 3 also says Story mode.
This new opus will highlight the “return of the mammals” and will also put players in the shoes of Number 3, in his fight once morest the evil Octarians. On the multiplayer side, festivals will also be back. A Splatfest World Premiere will also be organized on August 27 and will allow all those who own a Nintendo Switch console (which continues to sell well despite the context) to participate in this global event. Whether they are novices or veterans, players will have to defend the colors of one of the three sides they have chosen during the all new tricolor wars.
A catalog of arenas and weapons that should evolve over time
No less than 12 rotating arenas are planned when the game is launched. Some will be completely new, such as the Banlieue Balicot, the Casse Rascasse, the Réservor Rigadelle or the Marché Grefin. Others will come from the Chromapolis region, such as the Guppy Galleries with their rotating walls, the Esturgeon Bridge which connects the two regions, or the Ca$halot Club where the platforms are submerged. According to Nintendo’s current strategy, Like on Mario Kart 8 Deluxefuture players can also expect the arrival of free post-launch updates to increase the number of play areas.
In addition, to get to know the terrain well, a Guide mode will allow you to roam freely in each arena to get to know the configuration of the terrain and study the lines of fire. Regarding the arsenal, all the basic weapons of the two previous parts will be available, without forgetting the Piercers and the Eclatanas. Kind of katanas, the latter makes its arrival in Splatoon and allows you to send sprays of blood at more or less long range depending on the charging time.
