In recent years, a new phenomenon has emerged on the markets: an IPO through a shell. The whole thing is called Spac and stands for Special Purpose Acquisition Companies. It works like this: Investors (well-known and industry-experienced) set up a spac, i.e. an empty shell, and list it on the stock exchange. Other investors can participate in this shell – this is how money is collected, with which the Spac founder buys a company and brings it into the empty shell.
